Dec. 21st - the shortest day of the year just happens to also be my birthday. Although birthdays seem to mean less and less the older you get, it was nice to pause and spend some time with family and friends. This past year was another good growing year and I am grateful for many people in my life. Thanks to all who helped make this past year such a good one.
For some reason Santa still scared Will this year. But he pulled it together at the last minute to get his special requests in. It is pretty much all car related items, and a bike. Can’t forget the bike. Actually, they are all very specific cars, mainly all from the Cars 2 movie. Now I know that most adults, myself included, didn’t really care too much for the latest Pixar movie. But try convincing a 4 year old car freak that it isn’t the best thing ever. Just try. The only thing that has come close in the last 6 months is Polar Express. Please Pixar, hurry up with the next one, please. For Santa’s sake:)
Just so happened that I had my camera with me the other night when we dropped by to visit some friends. And luck would have it that they were doing sparklers and fireworks. So naturally it became play time for me as well…
Will is starting to get where he really wants to help out on photo shoots. He helps me pack the gear and here you see him bringing some flowers to add that special touch. I can’t wait until I get to hold the light for him:)
On a side note, the bugs really got me on this photo shoot. But I think we got a few good ones…
The evolution of my iPad…
This will be a great second portable laptop device - I will be so much more productive…
This is a great information consuming device - great for my feeds, Tumblr, reading…
This is a great educational device for my son - Just look at the learning games…
This is a great game device - Just look at how my son plays cool games… awesome…
Look… Netflix is awesome on the iPad… for my son…
TV Dinner anyone?
On the flip side, we got the TV back.
Tonight Will told me that he has a cute daddy. I had to quickly correct him.
I think as parents we all have moments when we think our kid(s) are the cutest around. It is part of the blind parent gene that we all get. Then we also have those moments where we don’t want our kids to get big heads by them hearing that they are cute. So being a good dad, I try to combat his cuteness with nightly rituals of letting him know that one day he will look like me. And that he really isn’t that cute…
In regards to the photo, my wife called this one the GAP ad shot. I guess its better than the Banana Republic… I think I need to work on not taking pictures that make him look so cute. It’s only going to add to that ego problem. I better remind him a couple extra times tonight of his inevitable future. And GAP, I’m sorry, but you can’t have this photo as it would only create a bigger parenting issue for me in the future. And I can’t have that.
This was the serious part of the conversation… The rest of the night and today has been “I love Santa.”
