Being on crutches due to a recent knee surgery, I was a little hesitant to pull out the camera this weekend to document the RVA Hackathon event that we sponsored. One advantage is that I guess I effectively turned myself into a human tripod… but navigating yourself around with a camera in hand is a bit tricky. There were definitely a lot more stories that I would have liked to have told from the night but I do think that this image captures the essence of the event pretty well.
The story behind the picture…
Tom and Mike Oristian, the guys behind Lucy Phone, are seen here working on an interactive iOS app after having been up for what I think is about 26 or so hours at this point. I should have asked them how many cups of coffee they had consumed to go along with their Red Bull consumption at this point. They were actually one of the few that made it straight all the way through without crashing. Huge props! I’m actually looking forward to playing with their app…

Governor Tim Kaine speak’s with Mobelux co-founders Garrett Ross, Jeff Rock and 3north Principal Sandy Bond at The Corrugated Box Building. Kaine stopped by to visit with the various CBox companies to see first hand the creative businesses here in Richmond.
